PRIME TIME

July 14 – A day that has a lot of relevance in my life. One because its my wife’s birthday tomorrow & secondly its Finals Day. Sorry cricket for the precedence I set but even you know The Wife’s the Boss… Chuckles

Whatever happens today, we know we will have a new name on the World Cup. In their last campaign both the teams had contrasting fortunes. While the English had a horror campaign, the Kiwis under the flamboyant leadership of McCullum played a fearless brand of cricket. England dint qualify to the knock outs & what was disappointing to see was the way they were destroyed. New Zealand made it to the final only to fall prey to their own belligerence to a well-oiled Australian team. Since then both the teams have come a long way; such is the extent that the style of cricket has changed for the Englishmen who have incorporated the McCullum way while the Kiwis led by Kane W have been sedate yet effective.

England didn’t enjoy as dominant a campaign as many would’ve predicted before the start of the competition going down to the likes of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. New Zealand, on the other hand, were one of the more consistent sides during the league campaign. Both the team defied odds to reach this stage; NZ beating overwhelming favorites India & England thrashing their arch rivals who had never lost a semifinal until Thursday.

What remains to be seen is whether both the sides stick to their style of play as they’re vying for that illusive trophy. Morgan has been very upbeat & I see no reason why they will look to change things that has worked for them. While Kane will stick to his slow & steady approach that brings a calming effect; only for the storm to unfold. The Virgin tag will be off the hook and we will have to wait & see who remains unfortunate to remain one.

The Pundits have predicted heavily in favor of the Englishmen and they have their reasons. Home crowd, a Lord’s finale is a perfect recipe but the ever under-assuming underdogs New Zealand will fight till the last breath. I don’t really have a preference, but I would, and I reiterate it’s a personal choice; I want the Kiwis to win. Only out of love for the jersey number 22!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
